Re: Pay or Leave?
[ QUOTE ]
For this kind of thing, I operate under the "would I bitch and complain if they'd charged me those items TWICE" rule. I'd have gone in and paid. If I got home, I'd probably call them or something, because $40 is enough that I'd be pissed if they'd overcharged me $40. If it was $20 or so, I'd go back in if I was in the parking lot but forget about it once I got home, because if they'd overcharged me $20 then I'd just have said screw it. $5 and I'm not bothering. And that concludes my sliding scale of morality. [/ QUOTE ] I think this sounds pretty reasonable. |

Re: Pay or Leave?
It depends, if I'm in a hurry and going back in might make late for something or if all the lines are really long I just leave. I would probly want to give them there money but if it's going to make me late for something or I have to wait 20 minutes in a line just to correct their mistake then I say screw it.

Re: Pay or Leave?
F "morality", I don't feel bad about their mistake, and I don't even feel bad about outright stealing.

I figured it out once I looked more carefully at the receipt trying to understand how it got that high (while still in the store) and had them fix it. I.e., target sucks. That being said, even though I think they suck I would still go back and pay for the stuff (in OP's case). I am more concerned with my ethics than their corporate revenue |

Re: Pay or Leave?
If I'm already at the car putting stuff in, I'd be way too lazy to go back into the store and pay for the rest of the stuff. If I was just walking out of the store, I would go back and pay.

Re: Pay or Leave?
what kind of items were in the storage bin? what kind of storage bin? this question depends a lot on if the clerk should of actualy noticed there was other items, if it would of been hard for her to notice then I think i feal bad and go back and pay if i'm not in a hurry, if i'm in a hurry screw them

Re: Pay or Leave?
I'm with much of OOT here. If it's easy and it matters, let's do the right thing. If it's hard, screw it.

Re: Pay or Leave?
Having it inside another container and them not seeing it would make me feel like I was stealing (whether intentionally or not) and I would definately go back in and pay.
