Book-If one is acomplete newb to stud Roy West's book is pretty good. It teaches ultra tight strategy but for a complete beg, tight is right.

Its generally belived that Roy's book is good if you don't have a solid understanding of the Theory of Poker, or lots of Hold'em experience and you play very well. If you play limit Hold'em well (most people think they do but do not, be honest with yourself first) then you can skip Roy's book and just read 2+2's 7CS for Advanced Players which destroys Roy's book. Roy's book is like reading Lee Jones, lots of us have done it and it started us off, but the advice is weak tight and it's not taken seriously by the good players.

It's an east coast game... you'll find a ton of stud games at Foxwoods, for example.

Stud is dying even in Atlantic City. You can still play, but the options are now limited.

It didn't used to be only an East coast game. You could come to Vegas any time of the year and find a wide range of stud games.

Stud was usually the biggest game and the better game.

Foxwoods still has 6 levels of stud every day. From 1-3 to 75-150.

I was at Commerce last Friday and there were numerous 4-8 stud games running in the ballroom, plus 30-60, 40-80, and a 100-200 game in the high-limit area.

I also saw Jeff Lisandro playing in a SH 400-800 razz game with several very cranky-looking asian guys (the placard said it was a mixed game, but it never seemed to "mix").

Come to AC for all the stud action you can handle.

You're definition of dying must be way different than mine. Taj has 5-10, 10-20, 20-40, 40-80 every day. Borg has 20-40, 75-150, 150-300 and 400-800 on most weekends.
