It's at the Horseshoe and Grand also.

Lots of people do it from the button but I've also seen it from UTG and any other position on the table (except the blinds).

Players deciding to live-straddle for 4 or 5 hands in a row, especially when tilting, is not uncommon in my experience.
Wouldn't be too surprised to see someone live-straddle on almost every opportunity for multiple orbits. Can sure make the game lively.

At the Goldstrike, some of these idiots will re-straddle the straddle in a loose game. Doesn't happen very often though.

Far as I know it is. I haven't seen a restraddle in quite a while. I'm not sure that alot of players know they can do it.

Actually they sometimes do it in a limit game too. There is no Miss straddle in limit, but we once had 4 straddles going in one pot. So it was 20 to go by the time the 1st actor acted. He of course RAISED IT UP, it was capped by the time it came back to us. so it was 40 to go 9 ways. 360 before the flop, and in typical Limit holdem fashion I find AK and the flop comes 8 5 3. small blind bets, big blind raises UTG calls, I finally say when and toss it. it gets capped on the flop 6 ways, the turn is 6 (3 flush on the board) capped on turn, and river 6 ways the river was an 8 and 86 takes the cake.... gh sir.. fun to watch... Total hijack but funny night

There is a $40 shuttle, but I can't remember the name of it. That's $40 round trip. It's used mainly by employees going back and forth to Memphis, but for $10 more they'll drop you off and pick you up at the airport--but you have to call them first. I found out about this shuttle after I had been there a while. They're hard to find. I saw them parked out in front of the Shoe one day, otherwise I never would have known.

If you rent a car in Memphis be aware that there is no place to drop it off in Tunica--no place. And there isn't a taxi to be had.

The Tunica airport (about 10-15 miles away) has rental cars (Enterprise) and they will pick you up and deliver, but it might actually be cheaper to rent a car from the Memphis airport.

All of the poker action is at the Horsehoe, with the Gold Strike second. The Goldstrike doesn't get any big limit games. If you get the poker rate at the Gold Strike they want you to play a certain amount of hours, and they track those hours by swiping your card. They told me if I didn't get in the required hours I'd have to pay the regular rate on my room, which was quite a bit more.

If you hit it right, Sam's Town has a $5000 added monthly tournament that's pretty soft.

The Horseshoe on the other hand, if you are lucky enough or know somebody well enough to get a room, wants you to play in their room, but they don't actually "track" your hours. Just showing your face is enough.

And the free food at the Shoe is a great deal.

Yes, this is another thing a Tunica-noob might not be aware of.

Just ask for a buffet or snack-bar comp at the Horseshoe and it's NEVER a problem.

Play 1 hour of 4/8 limit or whatever, want a philly-cheesesteak at the table or want a buffet-comp...never had a problem.

And the Horseshoe buffet is probably considered the best in Tunica.

Not sure how the comps are at Gold Strike. Probably a little bit stingier for poker-players.

I think lots of out-of-towners might not know how easy the comps are in Tunica because they're so used to getting some measly $1/hr in comp-credit everywhere else in the civilized casino-universe.

I think The Shoe's buffet is better than Bellagio's or Aladdin's. Also free is pretty awesome

To the other person who said Sam's Town $5000 added one Saturday a month.....that has been cancelled. They stopped doing that a month or so ago.

They do add $500 on Sunday's $50 freezeout. It usually sells out at 110 people.

Bob's right about the comps. I've been playing around there since the early 90's & usually get meal & room comps in the mail. If they know you by name in the poker room or craps/BJ pit, then usually they are pretty generous with the comps. I have even been comped to the steakhouse without dropping a dime at the tables. All of the casinos in Tunica tend to take care of their loyal players....most of the time!!!

i wish you could remember the name.

i was quoted $75 for one-way (tunica to memphis), ONE PERSON. i was going to stay longer by myself, so i got a quote. this was from unique travel, which is touted by the gold strike front desk.
