Default New Mirage 1pm Tourney

Just heard a rumor tonight that Mirage just this week started dealing 1pm $330 tournaments with 1-hour rounds. That seemed too good to be true so I just called 'em. It's true. 4000 starting chips. 25/50 starting blinds. 60 minute rounds. Signup starts at 11:30.

Guess they finally figured out the needed to do something to compete with Wynn and Caesars. And hey...if I bust out early from Wynn or Caesars noon tourney I can hightail it over to Mirage and start over an hour later.

Wohoo, 12 hour tourneys just for the locals If I was much of a tourney play, I woulnd't mind longer levels, and if I'm going to play in a tourney, I'm going to make sure I have the extra time to do it.

Honestly, I dont think many tourists will play these because they are wayyyy too long for the average person playing daily tourneys while in town.

Photoc,
You are assuming that the tourists will even relize that the tourney is going to take 12 hours when they sign up.

Mike, I get asked probably 10x a day how long the tourney will last. When I say 4 hours to the end..."oh thats way too long, we have (insert plans here) in an hour!!!" is the type of response I get 100% of the time.

I was grumbling at the tourney director of one of the cheapy buyin tourneys because of the 15-minute rounds and crappy overall structure. He said, "believe it or not, the single biggest complaint we get about our tourneys is that they last too long at 3 to 3.5 hours."

Thank goodness Wynn and Caesars have come along. And if they can keep it going, now Mirage.

I wandered by today about 12:30 and Julie said they had only 2 players signed up. She was sure they'd get enough to run at least one table, but instead I wandered over and entered the Caesars tourney one round late. 4 hours later when I wandered back through Mirage to get to my car they were playing two tables with 6 each. So it's getting some traction.

$300+30 is Monday thru Thursday, 4000 starting tourney chips. Friday and Saturday they are doing $700+50 tourneys with 6000 starting chips. Claims <50 players they pay 5 spots (39%, 25%, 17%, 12%, 7%) and 50-124 pay 9 spots (38%, 19%, 13%, 7.5%, 6.5%, 5.5%, 4.5%, 3.5%, 2.5%).

1 hour rounds. Blinds/antes each round are:

25/50/0
50/100/0
100/200/0
100/200/25
200/400/25
300/600/50
400/800/75
600/1200/100
800/1600/200
1000/2000/300
1500/3000/500
2000/4000/500
3k/6k/1k
4k/8k/1k
6k/12k/2k
10k/20k/4k

Any over/under bets on how long until they take out a few levels or decrease the time from 60 minutes per round? If ever they get 100 players on Friday or Saturday, with 600K chips in play, they're probably gonna go 18 hours. I'm gonna guess they'll just cap it at 6 tables, or some such, but it's still gonna play a long time.
