$2-$4 how do i play the river?
Full tilt. I have $420, villian has $360. Full ring. overall weak table. I open raise A10 hearts from the co to $13. Get called by Button and both blinds fold. Flop is (Ac, 4c, 7h). I bet $25 into $32 pot and get smooth called. Turn is (10d) giving me top 2. I bet $66 into $82 pot and again get called. River is (Kh). Flush draw misses. Whats my play here? Do I lead bet and hope he has AQ or AJish and pays me off? do I check and let him bluff into me, or check to pot control in case he has AK? thanks.

Re: $2-$4 how do i play the river?
I think he has only a pair Aces at best (AJ probably, but no AK), and would be happy to check it down. how about a bet of 150ish?

Re: $2-$4 how do i play the river?
Bet about 1/2 - 3/5 of the pot.
I doubt he was on FD here, so he will check behind with a lot of hands you can extract value from. Actually, i think 1/2 the pot is the best. He won't fold Aj/Aq and he might go allin in desperation if he missed FD or 56 since you leave him room for a shove I am calling allin here. If he has AK or a set( very unlikely he would just call on this board with a set), so be it. |

Re: $2-$4 how do i play the river?
I believe the pot was $218. SO maybe lead bet $100 on the river?
We can say he prolly doesnt have AK cuz he would raise either preflop or on the flop usually, right? He didn't flop a set cuz he would raise it on that flop usually. Only hands I could then put him were AJ, AQ or busted flush draw. I did actually check the river and he checked behind with his AJ. So I def. did not extract full value. |

So you think more times than not he has an AQ or AJ than a busted flush draw here?

So you think more times than not he has an AQ or AJ than a busted flush draw here? [/ QUOTE ] He called on the button and called flop and turn. It's Aj-Aq, weaker 2 pairs a lot, i'd estimate about 2/3 at least. The other % are fd/sd. And a lot of times, he will just check behind his busted draw assuming you'd call anyway with that A on board and your flop and turn bets. So, you have to bet in order to extract value from AJ-AQ and if he has Fd, it's ok, he'll fold anyway. Sometimes it's more obvious that villain has some sort of draw and your hand isn't that strong to call a bluff raise, so i often check-call in those situations and catch lots of missed draws bluffs. This was definitely not the spot to do it, he will never bet a worse hand with showdown value, his range is pretty defined by now and a lot of times he will not even bluff a busted draw. |
