400PS: Checked behind a house
Villain had been pretty quiet, at this somewhat passive table. What do you think of this line?
I usually fold this preflop, but table has been passive, as I said, and I wanted to see a flop. It's not my standard play FWIW. PokerStars Pot-Limit Omaha High, $4 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) UTG ($61.50) Hero ($551.80) Button ($74) SB ($853.60) BB ($352.10) Preflop: Hero is MP with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls $4, Hero calls $4, Button calls $4, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: ($20) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, BB bets $19, UTG folds, Hero raises to $72, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls $53. Turn: ($164) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $132, BB calls $132. River: ($428) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: $428 If he had a set on the flop, he now beats me. Id fe had two pair, he probably folds to the flopraise or turnbet. If he had a flushdraw or a wrap, he's not calling anything on the river anyway. I just don't know what hand he can have that will call me, but a point can be made for that he will have sick potodds if I put in the last 150 or so... |

Re: 400PS: Checked behind a house
If he had a flush or straight draw on the flop he didn't get there, but he may have a three, or he may have had a flush draw that improved to queens up. Stick it in.

Re: 400PS: Checked behind a house
my first thought was all is very solid.
but after these comments i've re-evaluated this and think we may put him all in. the pot $428 with relation to his remaining stack (about 150) and his check means he dont have full house. so you may bet there and be sure in 70% you are better with it |

Re: 400PS: Checked behind a house
He very likely has AQ8x(or similar) w/clubs. Checking quad 3's would be pretty funny.

Re: 400PS: Checked behind a house
Look at the stack to pot size ratios and insta-shove this hand. You have got to get hands like 8/3, 4/3, missed draws that now have Qs and 33 and are stubborn to pay you off here. IMO this was a really bad check behind.

Re: 400PS: Checked behind a house
i think you have to value bet here - i think its a neglected part of most peoples games and i have certainly worked hard at value betting even the thinest situations. you would be amazed at what crap people call with

Re: 400PS: Checked behind a house
I think it is a good rule of thumb that if someone checks to you and you hold a full house you should always bet, esp. if you feel its a marginal play.
I know there are some spots against some players where it might be a good play to check behind with a bad fh but this is not a good spot to check |

Re: 400PS: Checked behind a house
if you are extremly deep against a tricky villian who likes to check-raise river with big hands and air i would understand but this? just stick it in ur good here like 90%
