Most overrated games ever

I have three games.

First is Xenosaga. It had such rave reviews when it was coming out. I love Xenogears and think its easily Squaresofts most underrated game and not realizing that Square didn't do Xenosaga(same director though) I bought the game. Beat it, and was vastly underwhelmed.

Parasite Eve was another game that was extremely overrated.

My 3rd is Suikoden III, though I liked the game, it originally gotten great scores by PSM and Game Informer it just was not up to par with the first two. IV would take its spot as most disappointing later but some reason the hype on III was incredible.

I tried to get into this as i love FPS, but i didn't care for this at all. May have had something to do with it not being new when i tried it and the players being on a 99th level of difficulty in MP.

I don't think you can consider Parasite Eve overrated. IMO it was never really that high profile, and if it was it didn't last nearly as long as other titles mentioned here. (I enjoyed the game a lot fwiw)

The Grand Theft Auto games after GTA3 were way overrated. All they were was more of the same extremely repetitive boring missions recycled from GTA3. And they made no effort to fix any of the problems or the graphics.

Join a newbie server then. There are a ton of good players, I at one point was pretty solid at the game but it does have a high learning curve. But you can get the basic strategy quickly. I doubt it's overrated though. It's a very fun team based game.

I agree with MGS. It was fun to a point, but eventually the 6 minute long radio conversations and cut-scenes wore me down. And lol at people who like the story/writing (everyone raved about how good the story was at the time) - "love can bloom at any time, even on the battlefield".

Xenosaga and Parasite Eve were not rated that highly in the first place.

Xenosaga had commercials and ads taken out everywhere not to mention its hype in PSM. I'm sure that had to do with some of Xenogears being such a tremendous game. I'm prolly off with PE, but I just remember being told how good it was and I just didn't find it that great.

But, Xenosaga was extremely hyped. I haven't played episode 2 and 3, but that is mostly because I heard that they were not gonna finish the series off and I don't want to get invested in something that won't have a true ending.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas - IMHO, was a downgrade from Vice City and III, particularly in the storylines/missions.

Halo 2 - This is a really personal one, and everyone will probably disagree, but I thought Halo 1 was far superior to the second. (Outside of being able to dual-wield.)
