Yeah I'm at 40K with like 600 hours played this year playing mainly 200nl 6 max. With a better win rate could be higher. If I could extent that to 40 hours a weak obv enough to live on. And I am far from the best 1/2 player on pokerstars I think. So pretty easy to make a living off poker. You just have to consider how many bridges you burn. Obv it won't be this easy forever.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is what I was looking for, not "basic math." I'm not a robot, so calculating based off of my winrate isn't accurate. Thanks for a good answer.

basic math:

600 hands/hour
6 hours day (+ 2 hours study/improving your play)
20 days/month
11 months (vacation)

= 70k hands/month or 770k hands/year

4ptbb/100 at nl200 = 16$/100

= 11 200$/month
= 123 200 $/year (pre taxes)

and this excludes rakeback which is like 1ptbb/100? so 2800$ RB/month or 30 000$ RB/year, but using rakeback to build your bankroll so you can move up seems like a good idea

this seems a realistic work schedule and totally discounts the fact that you will get a lot better when you work on improving your play 2h/day in addition to playing for 6 hours ...

[/ QUOTE ]

Except how often do you actually see posters who report these kind of results at SSNL? Not saying it's impossible -- it isn't but most people either get sick of poker or don't maintain that work ethic.

Not being a hater, but really how often do we see fgator-lik e number of hands @ 200nl w/ 4ptbb/100?

[/ QUOTE ]

isn't it possible that's because the people that do have the work ethic to play 6 hours a day and study for 2 more crush the games and move up?

[/ QUOTE ]

It is. But I think most people get sick and tired of playing so much poker. I know I did. It's def. possible, but I just think most people are underestimating how boring and unsatisfying it is to play that much poker.

Mad respect to the pros here who can find the motivation to play poker >20hrs a week and still read and post on 2+2.

first deposit was 500$ in Party, played from .5/1 limit to 2/4 limit, made about 20k, got tired of poker and quit;

18 months later another deposit 300$ in PS; that was Sep,07; played nl started at nl10, worked my way up to nl100; had 5k and took a shot at nl200, in first 300 hands my W$@SD was 0%; moved back to nl100 now and will take shot again soon.

Played play money on FT for wayyyy too long (underaged ldo) and grinded up a few million play chips there mostly because I liked poker. Turned 18, deposited 50 on Fortune, ran it up to 300, busted, deposited 200, ran it up to 2.5k, cashed some out and moved the rest to Party because I wanted to use pokertracker and Fortune software is [censored]. Up to 14k now.

50k at 1/2 in a year should be v. easy for people that put in at least 30k hands/month.
