Default I am good at poker (low content)

The hand belows illustrates a very important concept in poker - situational analysis.

Once it was clear that 3 people liked their hands, I stopped and thought. What do they have? All the aces and a heap of low cards were probably out, which means my JT96 is probably in excellent shape. As it turned out, I made a brilliant play:

Party Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
8 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $10.96
UTG+1: $31.38
MP1: $49.71
MP2: $129.20
BadbeatPhil: $87.25
Button: $51.60
SB: $46.34
BB: $49.25

Pre-flop: (8 players) BadbeatPhil is CO with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, <font color="#cc0000">MP1 raises to $1</font>, MP2 calls, BadbeatPhil calls, <font color="#cc0000">Button raises to $4</font>, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls, <font color="#cc0000">MP1 raises to $18.75</font>, MP2 folds, <font color="#cc0000">BadbeatPhil raises to $66</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Button calls all-in $47.6</font>, <font color="#cc0000">UTG+1 calls all-in $27.38</font>, <font color="#cc0000">MP1 calls all-in $31.96</font>.
Uncalled bets: $14.4 returned to BadbeatPhil.

Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($187.04, 1 player + 3 all-in - Main pot: $127.27, Sidepot 1: $57.99, Sidepot 2: $1.78)

Turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($187.04, 1 player + 3 all-in - Main pot: $127.27, Sidepot 1: $57.99, Sidepot 2: $1.78)

99T8 is total trash and you only manage to scrape a few percent edge under absolutely idea circumstances where every overcard is dead and both flush draws are good. Here I have a 2:1 edge over a decent range of cards. BIG difference. Plus, people push different hands in tournament and cash games.

Why the initial call of a minraise, is that just positional or do you think it's going to get limp-reraised? I guess it's ok if you have calls behind you and 5-6 see a flop, but other than that is it just supposed to be implied odds?

The justification for this hand is laughable. Anyone that has spent a little time at the table with Phil knows what probably happened here, and it has nothing to do with situational analysis. Phil will gladly play any hand all in preflop if given the chance and especially if he is pretty sure he is against aces. So in these numerous trials of getting all in bad and marginal against AA he had one lucky trash hand that was a decent favorite. Once again, this comes as no surprise given the nature of omaha.

I submit that given more than 3 hands virtually no one could pick out the equity favorite all in preflop if all the hands are face up much less be able to recognize the times when some random bag of crap like this rates to have an edge when the hands are face down. Plus, you totally misunderstand why your hand is best equity wise. It has less to do with the fact that low cards are out and more to do with the fact that the 2 AA2 are cutting each other up. Plus the third guy is a stone cold retard.

with that action how do you know no one had the douple paired high.?????? or dominatind you with a double suited high... with that many plays i doubt all of the are low enthusiasts. you hand was worth seeing a cheap flop. what would have happend if you only two paired. i bet you woulda lost in most situations.
