Default QB comparison...

Marc Bulger V Derek Anderson (excluding the pittsburgh game)

74/133 48/88
55.6% 54.5%
765 yrd 780
5.75 ypa 8.9
2 tds 8
4 ints 4
11 sacks 1

This is why I am highly optimistic about the Browns going forward (not next week, but from then on ) DA hasn't suddenly turned into a good QB but with protection and time hes not turning into a pumpkin. Giving up 1 sack in three games is excellent, and I am willing to give the line the benefit of the doubt for the pittsburgh game as their RG and LG missed significant time in the preseason and they had new players at 4 positions and had no time to work together. Better news to come, Tucker is back for next week from his suspension and should be healthy (he was the best lineman when they were bad).

This is just a great comparison year for how bad a QB can look with a poor line, and how much improved a QB can look with a solid line. I also have to qualms about putting Quinn in there behind this line.

It also shows how much you can inflate your stats by playing the Bengals.

Please add caveat that Anderson is playing with the greatest WR of all time Braylon Edwards.

Wait, let me get this straight.

1) Compare Anderson to Bulger.

2) See that Anderson compares favorably to Bulger over the massive sample size of three games.

3) Bulger = good. Anderson > Bulger. Therefore, Anderson > good.

4) Completely ignore that Bulger is playing in just about the worst situation of any quarterback in the NFL: he plays for a terrible team, his offensive line is bad, his left tackle is out for the season, and he is playing with broken ribs.

5) Deduct that this means great things in the future for Anderson and the Browns.

Yup, that's some awesome logical progression right there.

Hey, if you can convince yourself the Browns have a good future with Anderson in less then 5 steps, thats a victory in my book.

Lol at the Bulger comparison.

The dude has broken ribs, no SJax, no O. Pace or O-line for that matter and you use him for the comparison to move forward. Next time let's not compare 0-4 QB's when planting your hopes on moving forward.

DA hasn't suddenly turned into a good QB

I wasn't trying to say DA is > bulger, but wanted to point out what a stark comparison in situation the two have come into. The Browns, owners of the worst offensive line in the league over the past 3 years now have a unit that is performing well, the Rams who are usually accustomed to having that oline as one of the best in the league are in essentially the same boat as the Browns were last year (using a different lineup for each game, preseason starters are no where to be found).

Football is a [censored] 16 game season, big sample sizes aren't going to come very often.
