Mackey Sasser disease
Seems like this is the correct forum for this question, I think.
I play softball and have recently encountered a problem. I can't seem to throw the ball anymore. Specifically, when I have to play catcher, I can't throw the ball back to the pitcher. Hence the Mackey Sasser reference, I believe he was the MLB guy who had that problem. When I throw the ball back, it goes all over the place. High, right on target, sometimes into the ground 6 ft from the pitcher. Strangely, when I have to throw the ball in from the OF, to the cutoff or wherever, I have my usual decent accuracy. The only thing I can figure is that I tweaked a muscle in my shoulder/back area a bit, which has caused me to hold back a little on my throws. Now though it's gotten to the point where I think about my throwing motion so much that I can't let the ball go and feel comfortable when playing normal catch. This rarely if ever will affect the actual game, since you can't steal in the league, but geez, I feel like an idiot. Anyone have any mental or physical tips for this? |

Re: Mackey Sasser disease
Maybe instead of throwing from the squat position, each time stand up and square yourself to throw?
