Default Am I a nit with this 3/6 play?

I saw the flush on the flop but when he started raising I thought maybe a bigger flush. On the Turn I figured UTG had slow played a big pocket pair maybe a hit trips.

Not really sure if maybe the BB had the bigger flush. Needless to say I got lucky.

PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (6 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 4, 5.
UTG calls, Hero calls, 2 folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) Q, 7, 2 (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets, UTG raises, Hero calls, SB folds, BB 3-bets, UTG caps, Hero calls, BB calls.

Turn: (8 BB) 8 (3 players)
BB bets, UTG raises, Hero calls, BB 3-bets, UTG caps, Hero calls, BB calls.

River: (20 BB) 6 (3 players)
BB checks,UTG bets, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG calls.

Final Pot: 24 BB

Results in white below:
UTG has Ah As (one pair, aces).
Hero has 4h 5h (straight, eight high).
Outcome: Hero wins 24 BB. </font>

No, I don't think you're a nit with this play. I don't know if you know or not, but it's not good form to post the results in you initial post.

I fold this preflop.

It's very close to a fold on the flop. You're only getting 7:2 and theres a pretty good chance that will be reduced to 12:4. Calling is marginal at best.

On the turn you've picked up some more potential outs and the odds are big enough to call no matter what.

On the river you raised correctly after your running straight came in.

I cannot see a single straight that even resembles nitty play. If anything you were a bit loose pf and on the flop.

Don't play 54s outside the blinds preflop. You don't flop well often enough with this hand, and you're obviously a beginner so you should be leaning towards playing too tight right now.

You're not a nit, but you should try to be at this stage in your career.

good luck.

SSHE actually advocates playing 54s on the button in very multiway pots, FWIW.

6 handed small suited connectors don't hit often enough to be worth playing. I would fold this preflop unless I was OTB and everyone had limped in, or sb of course.
