Default Eastern Promises

didnt see a thread on this movie. i saw it last night and really enjoyed it. critics said it was a bit slow, i disagree. i thought it was well paced. the fight scene of viggo in the steam room was sick.

anyone else see this movie?

you just went to see it because of the Viggo frontal male nudity right?

This is definitely one I'm going to see soon. Talk about not getting pinned down by a role (LOTR).

There's some discussion of it (and probably more to come as more people see it) in this thread in the EDF: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...umber=12108482

David Cronenberg being the director makes it hard not to see this one. Even though his movies don't always work for me, he's the kind of guy who can be full of surprises and do great stuff.

Mortensen's second role with this guy. Maybe these two will go on to do lots of good things, each helping the other out. They're probably an ideal partnership in some ways.

I would have rather seen the end of the movie instead of where they stopped and less of the inside of people's throats, but other than that it wasn't too bad. Seemed a little long.

The special effects were pretty terrible. Both throat cuts looked pretty fake and the fingers were the most rubbery [censored] I've ever seen.

The problem with special effects like that is so few people know what a deep cut or a frozen finger snip looks like that it doesn't matter how "real" it looks, it's still going to look fake.
