Default Florida $1/$2 NL tonite

i don't like playin 1/2 live b/c it's not enough money to be made but i've been reading and hearing a lot about it being possible to make a livin in florida out of it. so i set myself to try it seriously thinkin it can't be done. (it's awesome not havin a "job" so i can make time for things like these for no reason @ all. god i love poker and ty lord for bringin online poker into my life).

i planned on playin 80 hrs of $100 max NL (the equivalent of two 40hr weeks) and then calculatin my hourly rate, std dev, etc just to have an idea of how much one make and what's an appropiate bankroll when choosin a ROR < or = 2%.

after playin for 2 hrs tonite i'm surprised w/ the potential of how much money can be made. i can tell from the beginning of these little project that people play so poorly that makin a livin (low to middle class) @ it is possible. it's just a matter of how "good" a livin one can make. i still have 78 hrs left of poker on it but it looks promisin. i'll keep postin.

so far...

1) 2hrs --> +359

80 hours will only get you 2400-3000 hands I am not so sure you will learn enough given the larger standard deviations that are reported. That said based on the numerous florida poker threads I am not sure why you are surprised that it was so profitable. Wish you the best of luck.

i understand 80 hrs is not enough but i don't wanna waste my time too much. even if it is very profitable to play in those games i will still make more $ playin online. so i'm ok w/ a rough estimate. thx.

from what i've seen, everyone should be, unless you consistently take some pretty gross beats. they players are awful.

80 hours??? You can't be serious....do you really think that will give you an accurate study???

Don't kid yourselves about this Florida Poker thing guys....yes there are lots of Fish and Newbs and tourists etc....BUT there are also alot of really good players that I am encountering........

Lets face it VARIANCE is huge....

I am sure that Fishhead agrees with me....

46.25 hours and -$389 (after my losing -$252 5 hour session on Sunday)

The players really are that bad. Here's my stats so far. I am very aware that it's a small sample size, but it really feels like sitting down and having people throw money at you.

No-Limit (1/2 and 2/5, basically the same game cause of $100 buyin)
Profit: $1599
Hours: 41.9
Hourly Rate: $38.16

Limit (2/4)
Profit: $196
Hours: 25.2
Hourly Rate: $7.79

This is over the past ~5 weeks. I had never played live in a poker room or casino before then; only occasional home games. Total of about 2 solid months of poker study/experience. Online, I have been winning at .10/.25 NL (~5000 hands) and losing at .25/.50 (~2000 hands).
