Default Diamondbacks: Real Fangs or just empty rattling?

The next ten days will tell the tale for the D-Backs. They have a four game set against the Padres in San Diego, then 3 games at home against the Rockies followed by 3 games at home, again against the Padres. Also a few sets against the falling Dodgers early in September. Right now the D-backs have a three game lead in the NL West so these next ten games will probably make or break their season.

They have been playing on luck and running on high octane jet fuel and Valverde's 40 saves for much of the season. How long can it last, I keep wondering? Well, the rubber really does hit the road tonight and when the smoke clears late on September 5; I guess we will know.

Big man Livan Hernandez starts it all off tonight. We will need runs so Byrnes, Young, and Hudson need to produce and have a good series. And error few ball would be icing on the cake.

Go D-backs.

The DBacks are, what, the luckiest baseball team of the last 100 years?

They have a 74-57 record and have been OUTSCORED by THIRTY TWO runs.

All of their players have also been very unlucky.

It's almost as if they truly are a 75 win team, but all their players are underperforming yet they are getting ridiculously lucky.

It's a very interesting subject.

With what, BABIP and what not? Weird.

I haven't followed them at all, I just shake my head every time I look at the standings and see them up there.

I enjoy seeing a team contend with a bunch of young players, even if when I watch them I'm constantly thinking, "Who the hell is that guy?"

I'm too lazy too look up BABIP, but I assume that is the case. It is also a case of a lot of there young players really under achieving projected totals.
BTW I really like the title of this OP.

Thats about right. Some site (BP? HBT?) also recently did a story about how their relief pitching has had a little to do with them beating they pyth. projection by so much. Their better relievers are really really good and their "eat up innings" guys have been really terrible.

Real fangs IMO. Remove the "n" for the Yankees.
