Re: new line.. feels weird.. 4/180
What better hands are folding to your all-in? A8,56,78,77 are all sticking around. Its unlikely you are up against an overpair because no one raised pf but it is possible, those are the only hands that *might* fold. You also can't really represent the 4 because of your early position limp...
This is a -EV push. Why this new line? |

Re: new line.. feels weird.. 4/180
i didn't want to call on the flop and then c/f the turn to a 2nd bet.. and i thought folding the flop was weak though looking back i think folding the flop is fine.. and if that's the case then should i even bet the flop?

b/f flop, unless you have some note that the raiser is a maniac.
Shelf the new line. |

Re: new line.. feels weird.. 4/180
ok, so, first of all, you're not limping with 98s here because you want to flop an 8. You're limping so you can get a huge draw hand or a made hand and milk the [censored] out of it for value. It's not a bad limp and I do it too at passive tables.
As to the flop, I check it, because I don't give a [censored] about winning this pot when I know I'm getting at least one caller in this 5 way [censored] your mother pot. I let it go. The flop didn't give me what I wanted, so I'm done. Fold to the raise. You're trying to be cute and represent a hand where I think it's painfully clear that your opponent actually does have a hand and isn't trying to be cute at all. On the turn, you're representing nothing. You tried a new line by trying to rep. a set / FH whereas your 4/180 opponent isn't even thinking about what you are trying to rep. Rather, his heart is racing as he prays his A8 is good because he's not getting away from that [censored] unless you pryed his fingers away from the mouse...even then, chances are he clicks the call button just in time. Let's assume for a second that you're call on the flop is OK - you really only want to push if some cards come out - if a heart comes out, that's acceptable, as is a 6, a 10, or a J. Realize in all these cases that you now open yourself some outs while at the same time repping a straight. That's still a bit of FPS, but it's FPS with a much more effective plan (that should be used at higher stakes, if that). Barry |
