ATo blind defense.. 200bb stacks.
villian is 33/21/4.5
I thought preflop was borderline. Right after I called I thought I chose the worst option. Thoughts on all streets appreciated. River I'm most intrigued by. Not sure what I should be doing there. Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $40.30 UTG+1: $136.25 CO: $98.50 Button: $379 SB: $91.35 Hero: $201.40 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 folds, Button raises to $3, SB folds, Hero calls. Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($6.5, 2 players) Hero checks, Button bets $5, Hero raises to $15, Button calls. If I were going to checkraise, it'd be more than that, probably pot sized
on the turn you should value bet more with these stacks, around 30 river just bet 60-75, no indication that he has a hand better than yours. Probably JJ with a diamond or some crap |

Re: ATo blind defense.. 200bb stacks.
i think you are right and 3betting would be my play.
since you got there lead the flop but as played: repot the flop and i would probably make a big river bet like 79. |

Re: ATo blind defense.. 200bb stacks.
preflop is disgusting, and a 3 bet would be worse. Its not borderline, ATo oop with 200 BB stacks is a very very -EV play. C/R the flop more. Block the river and fold to a raise.

Re: ATo blind defense.. 200bb stacks.
pf really isn't that bad i dont think. i've been watching some cr stuff and am really starting to understand the whole 'mix it up' thing. i don't think it's standard to call here but we can and then we must play the hand differently. i like a flop lead here since we can induce a raise often times and I hate a c/r here since it defines our hand as STRONG. make a big turn bet, villain seems to have an overpair and we obviously missed our diamond draw.

[/ QUOTE ] i think that's really closed minded. we can do a lot with this, we can c/r flops, we can lead flops, we can float OOP w/ overcards, etc. just because something isn't standard doesn't mean it can't be the correct play every now and then. normally i'd muck or raise but call and evaluate for the purpose of playing poker isn't the worst possible thing that could ever happen to someone assuming (like i am here) that you have some post flop skills. but ya, make it clear that i'm not saying calling pf here is standard/good/awesome/the right thing, etc. just that i dont think it's 'puke in mouth' bad as long as you have decent postflop skills, a read and a plan (and maybe a pocket full of dreams) |

[/ QUOTE ] LOL u play ATo BECAUSE ur 200 BB deep, not inspite of it. And in fact I think a pre 3bet is better than a flat call due to the deep stacks. |

Re: ATo blind defense.. 200bb stacks.
lol, we don't want to play a dominated hand OOP for big stacks so normally raise/fold applies here. however an occasional call to mix things up isn't horrible/end of the world, it's just certainly not standard. pf is pretty simple to play, IMO, and it's hard to make TOO big of a mistake short of calling off 1/2 your stack w/ 98s or 44 or something. if you're able to play postflop you should be able to get some value here if there is some in this situation. it's just not the standard way.
this hand isn't about pf at all, it just needs to be taken into consideration when formulating f/t/r plans. |
