Difficult spot late in this MTT, my chip position is 22 out of 123 (originally 1,300 players)

bet 8500, call a shove. this is an action flop, make sure that you get the chips in the middle. don't let him get a free card when he would be willing to get all of his chips in with a wide range of hands that you beat.

I agree with Fiji I hate checking this flop, make a pretty substantial bet on the flop (3/4 pot at least) and call a shove. Giving a free card here would be a crime.
