I've tried searching but cant find any real details of the games.

Is there any casino's that spread NL 1/2 and higher?

Yes, it exists in 3 towns: Black Hawk & Central City (about 40 minutes from Denver) and Cripple Creek (closer to Colorado Springs).

$5 max bet. Most games are 2/5 spread limit. Lots of tourneys around too.

$5 is the maximum legal bet in Colorado. Which is completely ridiculous IMO considering that you can bet $5 a pull on a slot, which could end up being thousands bet per hour, and only the same $5 on a table game or poker that obviously cannot translate into the same betting action per time period.

Grandma gets to lose a crapload on slots, but a skilled poker player can't play anything but a ridiculous baby-sized game.

Best tournies by far are at Gilpin Poker Room. Colorado Central Station has decent tournies also. Don't even bother with the others. Good luck.

The Gilpin Saturday night tourney is $100 buy in with up to four $100 rebuys. Most people do at least 2 rebuys. 3000 starting chips and 3000 chips per rebuy.

Gilpin Sunday 3:00 tourney is also $100 buy in for 3000 chips with up to four $100 rebuys of 3000 chips each. If you do all 4 rebuys before tourney starts you get an extra 5000 chips for total of 20,000 starting chips. With 30 minute rounds and a good blind structure you get plenty of play. I would say 1/3 of the entrants, including myself, do all 4 rebuys up front. They usually get 4 to 5 tables for this tourney.

Yes, we all lament the $5 betting limit in Colorado. However we do have the mountains, world class skiing, and flights to Vegas can be had for $120 round trip...

I wish we did too. I quit playing the $5 games a couple years ago because they suck so incredibly bad. I think $150 or so is the biggest tournament you are going to find.

I played in a couple tournaments in Cripple Creek a couple years ago. They were a crapshoot. They were basically a turbo format. REALLY short blind rounds, bad players, they could have just dealt face up. The Blackhawk tournaments are similar from what i have heard.

If you want 1/2, you are going to have to look for underground games. These pop up for a while, then go away. A lot of pressure from the casinos to get these shut down. I usually don't hear about them until they get busted. Ask around and you should be able to find one. Denver area mostly, i think there is/was one in Boulder, maybe one in Fort Collins, and i haven't heard of any in the Springs. The safer option for no-limit is Home games. You can probably find some colorado players on here.
