I emailed Foxwoods and received the following reply:

[ QUOTE ]
Dear Anthony,

The mixed game is somewhat sporadic during the week. The game usually goes through the weekend.

During the week they usually play short handed and the weekends the game is full.

Please feel free to call me on day shift 1000-1800 and I will let you know what the game is like. My cell phone number is xxxxxxxxx. I am available Sunday through Thursday.

Good Luck and thank you for your interest in our resort.

Sincerely,

That's pretty cool for the guy to give me a cell phone #, although I live 100 miles away. So I'm more likely to just select a Saturday or Sunday and head down and play.

Should I expect any type of wait list? Is Sunday better than Saturday?

Should I (or can I even?) tip this Mark guy because he's trying to treat me like a high-limit player when I'm really a middle limit player?

and my 2+2 friends from Woostah! have trouble recognizing my greatness.

I'll second this. We certainly do "have trouble recognizing" your greatness. But, things like that happen to people who will fold a pocket pair to an all in reraise from a player WHO HAS NOT EVEN LOOKED AT THEIR CARDS. Especially when you have said player covered.

Seriously though, PM me before you do this. If I have cash around I may buy part of your action.

Ah yes, when I noticed it was Kilgore Trouts BB and I said "I may have to raise this hand" and Myrtle said "if you raise I'm going all-in"

And of course I found pocket 2's UTG and raised, and he was in MP and went all-in like he said he would. I had around 16K in chips, I think he had 7-8K. I was in great shape compared to the blinds, and didn't feel like coin-flipping, and opted to dump the 2's considering I didn't have much invested in the pot. We ran the hand and he had Jx with two diamonds, would have flopped the flush but I would've runner-runnered the full boat. Ah yes, I do remember.

I also remember when I was in MP and raised and you called from the button and then Whitey min-raised from the BB and we both called. Flop was something like AQ5 and you had pocket 5's, Whitey had pocket Kings and I had K/10 and was just on the steal.

We both checked to you and you pushed and we both dumped our hands. Good times (AJ never forgets, NEVER!!!!!)

Wow, I'm flattered, really, didn't expect it.

I believe my reservations are around the 22nd of March or so. I hope to hit Foxwoods on a Saturday or Sunday prior to that. So probably 2-3 weeks from now is the timeframe I'm looking at.

KILGORE TROUTS TOURNAMENTS: I have never cashed

KILGORE TROUTS CASH GAMES: I have never had a losing session

Now if only the cash games were played for worthwhile stakes so I could recoup my tourney buy-in, I'd be all set!

I have never tried tipping the floor at Foxwoods but recall reading on here a long time ago that they are not allowed to accept tips. In any case, it can't hurt to try.

Further info:

[ QUOTE ]
Dear Anthony,

I would suggest arriving around 1000 a.m. typically they will usually play straight Omaha 8 or better sometimes they will mix Hold’em in. The 75/150 Stud game is always active. Once the games are full movement is extremely slow. The games will typically run into the early morning hours or around the clock. The minimum buy in is $1000.00. I would say the average is 4k.

Good luck and thank you for your interest in our resort.

Sincerely,

You've gotten a fair amount of not-so-good information. The game is hyper aggressive, and some of the players are ridiculously sharp. 10k losses is a session are very common, even among the game's top players. Sometimes people think the game looks great because of all of the action, but some of the players are very correct in playing more hands, because their reads are so sick. The quality of the game on any given day (as with most games) depends on how many if any donators are in, and how bad they are playing. Not being a regular will leave you at a disadvantage due to the fact that the regulars will know which tactical plays will work against which players, and which won't. For example, in O and E, many pots demand you isolate or fold. They'll know whether isolating will work, and you won't, leaving them always making the right play, while you often effectively "carve yourself up" by putting in extra bets in failed attempts to isolate, or cheat yourself by not isolating when you could've. For these reasons, several internet players have tried this game, and many find it very frustrating.

The games goes from 3-6 days a week, often starting between 6 and 8 pm. It's very hard to predict when it will go. It can run past dawn, or break early. It's usually short. It's almost always O-E, less frequently H-O-E. The good news is, the 20-40 HE and stud games both run daily, and are both usually very good games. The bad news is, Foxwoods is a very poorly run poker room (many say the worst anywhere), doesn't deserve your business, and will treat you like a dog.

Good luck. Maybe you'll be there on a day with a donator, and you'll actually get some of his money.

If there is multi-way action pre-flop that see's 5+ players going to the flop on a regular basis in O8, then that's a good game. My pre-flop hand selection will produce the profit in those spots.

If most hands wind up with only 2-3 players to the flop and lots of aggression, then it's a different story.

I'll likely be playing on a Saturday or Sunday when the game is going to be full. I'm not a big fan of short-handed play.

Also, I prefer mixed games or split-pot games to straight stud or bee-lech, limit hold em.

I've played at Foxwoods before and certainly agree. But, it's the closest poker room to me (even though it's still 100 freaking miles away).
