I agree with MT2R post:

However looking back now on the whole season and the Bowls, it's pretty obvious the SEC was #1.

I don't think it's obvious at all especially because of the bowls. Aren't they about .500 in the bowls this year?

I also wouldn't hang your hat too high on LSU's win over ND. That'd be right up there with ND hanging their hat on the Commander in Chief trophy.

Bernie,

I agree USC will be favored in all those games.

Michigan
USC
LSU
Louisville
Texas

I'm not saying those will be the five best teams, but those will be the five teams that do best in their respective conferences and have a chance at the National Championship.

Can someone ship me a link to next seasons out of conference schedule ... preferably one that just lists the "marquee" matchups!

SEC has the most number of schools I think that can compete for a NC then any conference. Not a reflection of how they've done the last 5 but maybe last 15 or so.

SEC: Georgia, TN, Auburn, LSU, Florida right now, in the future maybe SC and Alabama.
BE: WVU, Louisville, future maybe Rutgers
P10: USC, OU future maybe Cal, OSU
ACC: FSU, Miami (both teams not lately though)
B10: Wisconsin, tOSU, Michigan (maybe not Wisconsin)
B12: OU, Texas, Nebraska

[/ QUOTE ]

You don't think Arizona State can compete for a national title? Keep in mind, they were one defensive stand away from winning one within the last 15 years.

I also don't think the SEC is the deepest conference, though they are the most overrated.

[/ QUOTE ]

Would you dispute either of these statements?

The SEC was the best conference in the country this year.
The SEC is the best conference in the country year-in-year out. (not every year, but consistently)

What do you mean by overrated? Most people argued that the SEC was below the Pac 10 this year. However looking back now on the whole season and the Bowls, it's pretty obvious the SEC was #1. They also have the most players on NFL rosters, so it's not just some media bias.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes and yes.

USC looks like the most talented team next year, but winning all six of those road games (even though they are probably the favorite in each individual game) will be tremendously hard.

Wisconsin is a good team this year, and pretty young as far as I know. I'm guessing they will be a contender next year. Michigan probably won't fall too far next year, depending on who stays and who goes.

This is definitely true, but I think they've got it in them.
How's this for a question, though: Is USC EVER going to lose at the Coliseum?

Here's a question, if they have another schedule like this...

09/02 at BGU
09/09 W Illinois
09/16 SDSU
09/23 at #6 Michigan
09/30 at Indiana
10/07 N'western
10/14 Minnesota
10/21 at Purdue
10/28 Illinois
11/04 Penn State
11/11 at Iowa
11/18 Buffalo

...and obviously they slice through it, does it hurt them? Surely they won't make another schedule like this right?
