how do I open up my game?
I sat for about 10 hours at a live 10 max table and to my right was a very interesting player. Most people would consider him a maniac LAG. He literally tried to win every single pot he was in as long as it was only heads up or 3 players. His cards almost didn't matter and he was doing quite well for a while until he made some huge blunders at the wrong times (he just didn't seem to know when to back off). He may have taken it too far but this got me thinking though that I really play too much "cards" and not "poker". I'm a pretty tight player and can't seem to find enough spots to make plays or win pots without cards (beyond standard raise PF and CB on flop hoping for a fold). I'm not sure how to fix this and change my image. I'm just not a "dangerous" player and good players can see through most of my game. It's funny though because I still get paid off far too often on my big hands (mostly by the fish). Any advice on this topic? I figure as I move up to $5/10 and $10/20, I really can't play this straightforward and still do well.

Re: how do I open up my game?
Actually you probably can. If you want to open up your game, make sure you do it in position.

Re: how do I open up my game?
Actually my coach gave me this advice... "make sure you do so with good position"
Maybe we have the same coach, Trix LOL |
