Default HU 25/50 really interesting spot in big pot

Liraerik and I had been playing HU for quite a while before this hand came up. I had been playing unusally conservative for myself and had won a lot of 70/30 and 60/40 pushes on the flop where he would 3bet preflop and then continue bet on boards like 557 with dry overpairs and I would push with wrap draws, flush draws, etc.. We have a little bit of history HU but only 4k hands or so. Anyways, in this hand, I decided to make a rare 3bet for the session and then played it rather strangely... He tends to take control when I check to him after 3betting, so I decided to play the hand slow. Let me know what you think of my play up until the river, and what you think my action should be after the river card hits. Thanks.

orgasm then.... i would bet, but thinking about if you were to bet he would only call with a hand he would bet with if you checked it to him, so be ballsy and check.

Lead out. Too many hands get checked behind here.

Meh, I considered it, but given the stack sizes, it would be pretty foolish to overcommit myself with a gustshot str8 and J-high flush draw for 2+ BIs in case he has the A-high draw with a pair, or a made str8, etc..

I'd check raise the turn rather than the flop in this position. It puts a lot more pressure on opponents to fold their draw rather than shove.
On the flop, any set or flush draw will just shove and gamble. On the turn they know they really don't have odds to call.

Best case scenerio is he has Acxc maybe Kcxc and will bet. If he doesn't. Does he call any bet.

Has he kept firing at a similar pot? Your check/calling is pretty indicative of a draw, but he doesn't know what one. Could be str8, clubs,or spades.

If you lead out he most likey folds or C/r's you(good thing here, if he reads missed spades). If you check, he may check behind and you'll have no chance to extract more.

I say bet ~1/2 pot and see reaction. Probably most +ev money wise.

Yes you have to lead out, but it doesn't have to be for the pot. Anyone with nothing will fold if you bet the pot, but a weak value type bet will get calls from players who hit straights or baby flushes, whilst a king or ace high flush will likely raise for value allowing the shove.
A small bet may also induce a bluff raise from a player who thinks you're trying to make a blocking bet, whilst a naked ace will also believe he can raise you off the hand here.

Half the pot might be a little too much to get people to bluff at you. A third of a pot is more likely to do the trick.
