He wasn't over his girl friend. I thought this was pretty obvious.

I think they mention on the director's commentary track that the character was supposed to be overweight and unattractive but the casting just didn't work out that way (and I don't see anybody complaining). I don't know why they left that exchange in the movie if that's the case.

Ghazban's right. It was supposed to be a part played by a slighty unattractive woman, the kind you'd see in a club like that. But someone on set said they could get Famke, so they did.

I always figured that Mike realized that he probably shouldnt be sleeping with someone whom he owed alomst 10k to for a gambling debt.
