What do you think the role of government should be (if at all)?

See, that's part of the reason I'm trying to become more educated. It's hard for me to have a solid opinion on any given subject when my knowledge of how the government handles those issues is so limited. Take, I don't know....healthcare. I know a basic theoretical argument for both increasing and decreasing government involvement, but I don't know any real details for me to have an educated opinion. I don't know if I've explained that well, but I'm the kind of person who can't take a side on an issue without knowing the details.

Just think of other govt agencies and how well the govt employees act. Ever seen anyone move slower than a post office employee? Well...maybe at the DMV. (how would you like that kind of effort in the ER?) Any government programs actually come in at budgeted numbers? Healthcare comprises a huge portion of our economy, and if the govt gets involved we are all screwed.

Nations with "universal health care" have tax rates around 70 % usually. Canada has a similar UHC system, yet Canadians come over the border to the us for procedures cuz the govt has them on 2 year waiting lists for some procedures. (thats with 10% of us population) Trust the US govt to run something 10 times as big as Canadas program?

Sorry kinda getting off your question of where to get info...but really you have to use your own brain and think things thru. Its easy for politicians to spin people into supporting this or that....but when people actually figure out that the govt doesnt pay for these things, the people do, some change their minds.

I actually saw a man on the street type interview with random americans being asked if they support x y or z and one guy said he didnt think taxpayers should have to pay for this but the government should. Go to this site and take the tests. Questions are pretty general. After you get results let us know where you fell.
Then some of us will try to turn you into a freedom loving AnarchoCapitalist, while others will want you to become a freedom hating Socialist. Either way read thru the opinions in here....you are sure to learn something.
