The second episode wasnt nearly as good as the first, which wasnt all that great either. Will probably watch another episode or two before giving up on it though.

The youngest couple's storyline is so boring I can hardly stand it.

Agree, I can't [censored] stand either of them, but she's really hot.

I have to keep watching just for the hopes of vag each episode, but this show is lame. It's like it was originally a half-hour show, and then HBO cancelled their entire line-up so they stretched it to an hour with a gazillion awkward silences.

HBO needs to learn that it's no fun to watch a show where everyone is miserable. Even the sex is miserable. It's the same problem they had with John from Cincinatti. Everyone was an [censored]. Why can't ONE of the couples in this show be happy? And please, WTF with the old couple? I hate the old bag with the pursed lips. If you're going to have a love scene with old people, make it like Sophia Loren, or Julie Christie.

The writing is bad. Really bad. It's boring as hell, in fact. The only saving grace is the young actress who I liked a lot.

agreed, everyone is so [censored] whiny. That's why I hate movies like Garden State too. Quit your [censored] bitching. I don't want to hear it.

Six Feet Under was incredible, though.

Although those characters often fought and complained, they really cared for each other and they had real hope and were actually people that I wouldn't mind being around. They didn't hate themselves like the characters in TMYLM. Plus, you had some hilarious scenes (often involving the dead father) to break up the mood.

The characters in TMYLM say they love each other, but I'm not buying it. They all seem to hate themselves and hate their SO because they don't feel they deserve love. And there is absolutely NO humor in the show whatsoever. I really can't think of a show this depressing that has been successful.

Speaking of the dad in 6FU, what a great character. I never really thought about it but it was genius to break the stereotype of the ghost figure coming back to guide his loved ones. The dad in that show didn't give a [censored].

Do not compare this show to JFC or I will not be happy and you don't want to make me cry.

Being an older guy than many here, I found the show to be pretty heavy-duty in dramatic terms. The sex is really just action to press the drama of what is happening to these people, who are basically normal people sleeping through their lives and who begin to wake up. The obvious banality and denial we see there is so real the show can be painful to watch. I have known . . . and in some ways been . . . these people.

I loved JFC for completely different reasons. But I think several of you are right about how this show will be received; there isn't much fun here besides the sex (and the sex isn't always that much fun). If you enjoy serious drama and you have some psychological background, I think it will be great, but for most people, it will be just too uncomfortable or boring to watch.

JFC was way better, but it could have been great and it wasn't. They should have focused more on the wonderment of what was going on in the family and have them bond together to try to figure out what was happening to them instead of having them just yell at each other all episode every week.

Just finished fourth episode, I thought it was a pretty great episode. Especially the scenes with the guy from carnivale. Definitely going to give it some more time. Kinda dig it.
