[/ QUOTE ]More importantly, Congress is on vacation. (Wish I got as much vacation time.) Anyway, there won't be any new news until September.

This is a pet peeve of mine.

Congress isn't on vacation right now. This is a time to take district work periods to go back to their state/district to hold town hall meetings, sit down with local leaders, travel the state/district to get a better sense for what is going on, etc.

While it is true that legislative work slows to a halt now, that doesn't mean they are on a beach someplace enjoying a fruity beverage. Hell, sometimes these weeks are busier than when they are in Washington.

It's a common misconception and it always riles me up. Sure, you can argue they should spend more time legislating--but many argue they don't listen/talk to their constituences enough and this is what this time is for.

Recess doesn't equal vacation. Although lobby-paid junkets might count as a vacation.

Those have evaporated faster than water in the Sahara. Even legit trips for research/knowledge purposes are nearly gone too.
