Default Home Theatre in a Box

Alright, OOT A/V club. The "A" in my A/V system is blown and was [censored] to begin with. I'm looking for a stopgap measure, fully intending to replace it once I really do my full home theatre makeover. Is it worth trying to figure out which $200-$300 home-theatre-in-a-box is the best, or are they all pretty much the same [censored] a this price point anyway? Any recommendations?

I've heard that the Onkyo systems are pretty good.

I've got the Onkyo a step up from that $300 mark, and I really love it. Great for a first home theater setup, and if I remember correctly, the guys at avsforum said the receiver was particularly good, which helps when you want to upgrade piece-by-piece.

I have a Onkyo that I got for about 450.

The speakers and sub are larger than your average HTIAB, but it sounds fantastic.
