Yeah man- i was going to post something about them awhile ago. their entire album is awesome. i hear alot of ledzepplin influence, and Black Sabbath. they're very underrated. they've been in boston twice in the last few months, but i couldn't go to either.

From what I've heard, I don't like. That dude's voice irritates me. Anyway, here's a link to a video of Mike Patton of Faith No More fame talking about what he thinks of Wolfmother.

I suck at being the sole dissenter.

Patton comes off as a huge douche in that video.

Patton is an a-hole. A talented a-hole who doesn't care much what anybody thinks.

I feel what he's saying though, because what Wolfmother does, isn't really groundbreaking or even that talented. Most guys grow up rocking out to Zep, Black Sabbath, and the like on their first electric guitar. Once they learn to play the classics, they go on to their own stuff. These guys just seem to have kept on playing Zep... kinda like a decent remake of a classic movie. I'm meh about it, but if others dig it, fine and dandy. I'll stick to the classics.

I have not heard anything by them, but if people in this thread are throwing out the names Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple, I will pick up this album.

"Woman" is on Madden 07, at least the GC version.

Haven't heard any other songs, but that one rocks enough to make me think about grabbing the album.

I hear more Deep Purple and Black Sabbath influences than Zep.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not talking simple influences - I'm talking actual riffs. On 3 or 4 songs off the top of my head, it's add a note here, slow it down/speed it up, and you have a Zep riff.

Not that there's anything wrong with that per se, just something I noticed.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm like the biggest Zep fan ever, so I think I just need to listen to Wolfmother again to hear it.

I have a couple of friends coming to visit from Spain tomorrow. They will be here for three weeks, and I plan on taking them to a Wolfmother concert when they come to town. I just listened to the CD and I like it.
