Default Writing a 2 week notice?

I am in the process of getting ready to quit my job and move to the Grand Canyon. The pay will be less. I will be 1600 miles away from my friends. Oh well. I hate Mississippi that much.

What do I need to say to in my 2 week notice so it does not sound kiss ass or cheesy?

Steve

Keep it short and sweet. Give the effective date, the reason for your departure, say thanks for the opportunity and wish them luck. In your case it's a pretty clear cut situation, you have an excuse totally unrelated to your job itself so it's not complicated.

This is absolutely the best way to go, no additional information at all. I would not even put reasons for leaving in, these can be expressed in person. The letter should be about 2 sentences max, preferably one.

In the vast majority of cases, you don't have to write anything. Just talk to your boss, tell him/her when your last day will be. No biggie.

The advantage of a written indication is if they get shady on your date of departure (i.e. last paycheck) and/or paying off pto. This ensures there is no room for confusion. Depends on the type of job, but is a good professional habit.

I never really kept up with the situation, but does this mean A1 is 100% over now?
