OK, so I decided I might as well write it down instead of asking stupid Q's.

I suppose also Missouri beating Kansas would help as it makes one of Illinois' losses look "better" and probably slight raises computer rankings on strength of schedule?

1. LSU (SEC)
2. Kansas (B12)
3. West Virginia (Big East)
4. Missouri (B12)
5. Ohio State (B10)
6. Arizona St (P10)
7. Georgia (SEC)
8. Virginia Tech (ACC)
9. Oregon (P10)
*. Oklahoma (B12)
*. USC (P10)
*. Florida (SEC)
*. Texas (B12)
10. BC (ACC)
11. Hawaii (WAC)
*. Virginia (ACC)
12. Illinois (B10)
*. Tenn (SEC)
13. Boise St (WAC)
14. Conn (Big East)

I don't have a dog in this fight but I think Illini fans want for West Virginia to lose so that Ohio State plays in the national title game. With LSU losing they'll get there if WVU loses. Then Illinois needs to get into the top 14 and the Rose Bowl will take them for the Big 10 - Pac 10 matchup.

For that you'll only need a couple teams to fall. Oregon, Arizona State, Oklahoma, BC and Hawai'i could all easily drop out with another loss. If I were the gambling type I would say that Illinois are better than even money to finish in the BCS top 14.

Yes. Anything that gets tOSU in the BCS title game is good for Illinois.

Illinois is in a lot of trouble with Hawaii winning tonight. Here's my projected BCS list from the other thread:

NC: Kansas/Missouri winner v. WV
Rose: OSU v. Oregon
Sugar: SEC winner v. Hawaii
Orange: VT/BC v. Tenn/Georgia (not LSU)
Fiesta: Kansas/Missouri loser v. USC

I think Illinois is the next team up if something weird happens: USC, Oregon or Hawaii losing next week or Georgia losing to GTech AND Tenn losing to LSU. I can't think of any other scenarios where Illinois would go. I'd take an even money bet that Illinois won't get there.

USC, Oregon, and Hawaii are DEFINITELY well more than 50/50 to combine to lose one more game. If you think Illinois leapfrogs any of those three should they lose, than you should NOT be taking even money bets against Illinois...

I forgot about Arizona State. Between USC, Oregon and ASU, 2 of the 3 will have to lose to keep the Pac 10 from sending 2 reps

If Oklahoma beats the KU-MU winner, I think tOSU has a shot to backdoor into the title game. If that happens, aren't we likely to go to the Rose Bowl?

If one of two things happens, OSU will go to the nat. championship:

1) WVU loses one of its two remaining games.

2) KU/MU winner loses to OK in the Big 12 Championship.

Figure OSU is #4 in the BCS standings right now with the LSU loss. The loser of the KU-MU game will very very very likely drop behind OSU in the polls pushing them up to #3. Then if WVU or winner of KU-MU loses a game OSU would move up to #2. This would allow the Illini a shot at an at-large bid for the Rose Bowl (assuming we get into the top 14 or top 18 as they have announced - expand the requirements if the major conferences can't provide - I think this is a pseudo "Illini clause".)

Iron,

I'd make an small even money bet about whether Illinois makes a BCS bowl. $20 plus the loser has to use the other's avatar until after Illinois plays (or some other avatar chosen by winner).

Money paid in Full Tilt or Stars.

BC losing here would be fantastic, not pleased the VA is looking to beat VTech though.
