Default B&M Newbie Chip/Betting Question

Hi,
I'm travelling to the Sahara Casino and also Pahrump, NV in July and haven't played a live game in years (Foxwoods 1995 was last). I don't recall much of anything as how the chips and betting goes live. Assume I play at a 2/4 limit table. Where do I buy chips, at the table or at a cashier? In what denominations are the chips? How do I rebuy if I need to? Thanks. Paul.

If you are uncertain about where or how to buy chips, simply ask the person taking down names for the game and who calls you for your game.

Most smaller poker room casinos in Vegas simply have their chips/cash at the same little stand/table you sign up for games at, and this is the case for the Sahara. Bigger poker rooms (Mirage, MGM, Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, and Rio during the WSOP) have a seperate cage where chips can be purchased. Also the person sitting you can get you chips while showing you to your seat.

If you need a rebuy, put it out on the table and make sure the dealer sees it. In most rooms in Vegas, 100s play, and everything else must be converted to chips as soon as possible. Although at Sahara, this last weekend, I saw 10s and 20s play, but that is definately the exception. If you are sitting at a 2/4 limit game and need to rebuy $20 or $40 in chips, the dealer will usually have plenty in his rack to help you out.

$2/4 Limit Holdem

Blinds preflop will be $1/2. There are 4 betting rounds and within any of the 4 you can max out with 4bets. Different streets differ between the bet amount for example.

PREFLOP/FLOP- it goes $2-4-6-8 someone can 2bet($4 to go) someone can 3bet(#6 to go) and someone can 4bet($8 to go) which is the max this betting round can goto per player.

TURN and RIVER- the stakes have doubled and now it goes $4-8-12-16 making a 4bet $16 dollars MAX per player

When you first get there you can buy chips from any cage, but if you go busto you can just reload there on the table by putting cash onto the table and a dealer will reload it for you. You will most likely only be playing with 1 chip denomination which will be $1 dollar chips.

Hopefully this breaks it down and GL!

Pahrump has a casino? I thought the only things there were whorehouses and a race track.

sounds like fun.....lose at the horse track, win at the poker table, lose your poker winning at the whorehouses.
