Default April (all month) in Las Vegas - where to stay?

I think this is the right forum, based on where I've seen similar topics before.

I recently quit my job, and I intend to take several months "off" ... not to "turn pro", but poker will certainly be a part of what I spend my time doing.

Based on the current plan, I hope to be in Las Vegas for the month of April (given other events, this is the only time I can do it.)

For a short trip (3-4 days), I have a pretty good idea of the places I like to stay, but spending a month on the strip would certainly cause me to murder myself.

I've read some previous posts here that suggest places like Green Valley, Henderson, and Summerlin as good (clean, safe, not ridiculously expensive, close enough to the Strip) places to live permanently. I don't really know too much about any of these places.

Also, I put on enough poker weight in 2005, so easy (walking distance) access to some kind of recreational activity would be good. Golf, Running, Hiking, Basketball Courts, etc.

Has anyone ever had an extended-but-not-permanent stay in Vegas? If so, any recommendations on where to look, agencies/web sites to use, etc. would be appreciated.

Not sure if your looking for a Hotel or furnished suite. If its a Hotel clean and close to golf still a ways off the strip. Try the Sante Fe Station Rooms are cheap and clean close to a bunch of nice courses. Also the food at station casinos is cheap and good.

I drove from Atlanta to LV last year for the WSOP. I rented a room in a 3-bed condo in Henderson for $500 for 4 weeks. Had my own room (that was furnished), wireless Internet, washer/dryer, kitchen, and shared a bathroom. I found the room on Craigslist. Everything worked out great. Took my golf clubs and played some nice courses in Henderson. Went to the mall next to Green Valley Ranch which also had a movie theater. PM if you have other questions about my experience.

If it's not a nice car, try Budget Suites behind Stardust. It will be the closest and cheapest for a month's rent with all the essentials you need. Plus, it's a fun experience. Good memories, the damn crack whore who stole my tennis ball when my roomy hit it towards her. There's the drinking and smoking out with hot strippers/hookers. Weed on supply 24/7. The old guy wearing just short shorts and a big ass cigar out of his mouth running around the Suites for hours every day.
