2/5 100max?
Hey guys,
I was recently at a 2/5 home game and everybody couldnt stop talking about how great the 2/5 game at the tampa HR was.. I know it's 100 max buyin, but they were saying that you're at 100BB stacks for the whole table in no time.. Is this game worth playing? I currently play 100NL online and have a decent winrate. But everybody couldnt stop talking about how there were so many idiots throwing away 200BB stacks with top pair. Anyways, i think i'm going to go out to tapma tonight to try the game.. Any 2p2ers going to be there tonight? I'd like to say hi/avoid you. |

Re: 2/5 100max?
I might go. But I'll be sitting at 1/2. If I get up a buy-in there, I might take a stab at 2/5.
Yes, this is the Hard Rock, which means some of the games will be super loose. I've sat on some very tight games as well. Table selection is everything. |

Re: 2/5 100max?
the game is horrible imo... preflop raise up to 20-30 is the norm.. The moment you sit, you are short stacked. Now if you can open a table.. that would be worth it.

Re: 2/5 100max?
It is definitely worth playing, even with the stupidly low buyin. I'm averaging $75/hr over 90 hours playing the 2/5 in Melbourne; I'm sure the Tampa game is very similar. It plays pretty aggressive, but it's worth taking some risks early to build up a bigger stack so that you aren't just in shove/fold mode. Be prepared to rebuy a couple times when their J3s > your AA. Also you will always have a couple very weak players with large stacks from sucking out and you want to be able to get paid off big when you get in a pot with them.

Re: 2/5 100max?
Update: It's vvvvv easy to sneak stacks of reds onto the table 1 at a time. You can pretty much buy in for 500 in about 2 orbits. The trick is finding a table full of 500 stacks. Then the game is great

Re: 2/5 100max?
Yeah honestly what I do is i add about $50 worth of reds to my stack everytime I take down a pot. I walk into the hard rock, purchase $100 in red... go eat at the green room... buy another $100. Get a seat from the brushstand, go buy $100. Show up at the table and tell the dealer i transferred from another table and set my $40 in chips on the table and purchase $60 more from the dealer to get my stack up to $100. At this point I have $360 worth of chips, $260 of which are in my pocket. I'll add a handful everytime I take down a pot and nobody has ever said anything. It's kinda scummy because ratholing isn't cool... but I think it's less bad when you're trying to sneak them onto the table.

easy as pie
It's simple, really. Short stack no limit is easy. Deep stack no limit is hard. Short stack is all preflop and flop. Mostly those decisions are relatively easy. It's turn and river decisions with deep stacks that are the most difficult. Also, in these games people will often play really wild trying to build up a big stack.
