He's actually done a bunch of commercials. Some of them seem pretty straightforward and some are, as you might expect, weird as hell.

Getting back to the OP's point of well known directors doing commercials. I can't believe everyone forgot the Terry Gilliam Nike Soccer ads from a few years ago.

I love the Leave Nothing commercial, and was curious... Did anyone else liken the noises made by Steven Jackson in his first 2-3 moves to when you got shot in Goldeneye?
