I'm not sure how you can justify KU at #1 considering the best team they've beaten is 6-4 Texas A&M by 8.

because the Jayhawks have played more than Ohio State has

I will have the math up on my blog soon

there is no reason to put Ohio State ahead of Kansas other than preseason rankings

NO REASON

Agree 100%.

Sagarin SOS: KU's schedule is 106th out of 120 or so Division 1 teams.

Don't get me wrong. I wish that KU had by far the toughest computer ranking of any team, to help OU if they can win out. They just don't.

M2TR- In a hypothetical, what do you set the line in a OSU- Kansas neutral field match?

don't really care and it's beside the point

i'm not ranking on who is better

I'm ranking based on who has played better on the field

maybe if Ohio State played anybody, I would care

Kansas has 3 road wins that were tougher than any game on Ohio State's schedule

The argument against tOSU is at least somewhat circular:

1. "We'll find out if they are any good this week when they play (insert Washington, Purdue, Penn State, Wisconsin here)

2. Demolish (insert any of the above)

3. "They haven't played anyone, look how bad (insert team) is!!!!!"

That's not true and you know it. Beating Texas A&M, Kansas State and Colorado on the road isn't as tough as beating Penn State and Purdue on the road. Besides, OSU beat PSU by 20 and shut out Purdue (and scored 23) before Purdue scored with 10 seconds left. OTOH, Kansas has to come from behind to beat KSU by 6, beats Colorado by 5 and gets shutout for 35 minutes at A&M before winning by 8 points.

How can you say you are "ranking based on who has played better on the field"?

very true--another easy win for tOSU this week

of the two undefeateds, Kansas has the more deserving resume and the difference will grow

however, I don't think tOSU fans should be that up in arms since my logic and reasoning skills are not possessed by the greater country and even I have tOSU #2

It is sort of an indicator at how messed up national titles are when the main reason the Big11Ten has had recent contenders was because the conference is weaker than it has been historically

I think you run a dangerous road when you judge a team based on how good its opponents have done. Saying someone has a more impressive resume just because of W-L record is like saying someone with a 4.0 in Home Economics is smarter than someone with a 3.7 in Physics. You can't control who is in your conference (I suppose you could jump conferences... but that doesn't seem realistic), and games you schedule OOC are typically done years in advance where a tough opponent could become a joke or a patsy could be great. Judge how teams play the games, not who they squeaked by.

it's not like Kansas squeaked by anyone...this isn't the 2002 Buckeyes

the only game that was really close was @ K St--big rival on the road--compared to MSU at home for the Buckeyes, which would've gone down to the wire if MSU didn't screw up a scoop and score

Kansas was dominating at A&M and at Colorado---I watched both games since they were on ESPN---I think I was the only one outside of Kansas who did

Kansas has played like a #1 all year....If they were wearing the Oklahoma jerseys, I doubt my opinion would be that controversial at all

This all sounds very biased and not supported by good evidence to me. Kansas was tied 0-0 with A&M at half time. That doesn't sound very dominating. You get points on the board if you dominate. And tOSU was up 24-0 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd and the fact that there was any chance for it to "go down to the wire" was due to some pretty unlikely events.

Basically, I don't see anyone giving any good reasons to favor Kansas. If Kansas can beat OU, then we can talk, but I bet that won't happen.
