Default How low will you go?

I was playing some 200nl tonight and had a maniac at the table. A real nut job. He shoved pf in just about every hand he played to begin with. On about the 3rd round I made a raise in the CO with AJo. He shoved for about 112 more. I fold. After another couple of rounds of him pushing I raised from the CO again with AQ and called his push. He had J8o.

Now, this isn't a bad beat whine. He rivered a straight vs my 2 pair.

Whatever.

Doubling up didn't slow him down though. He sometimes limp folded after that but sometimes limp pushed and the overwhelming majority of hands were JAMmed from the button regardless of whether it had already been raised. If he raised and was reraised then it was instapush.

So, what hands are you willing to play against this guy from the BB if he has pushed the button time and again? How low are your calling standards?

Is a fantastic tool for analyzing questions like this. I'd suggest playing with it a bit for varying ranges you think he may be pushing with, then seeing what calling range maximizes your EV. SNGPT is generally used for answering the question the other direction (what range is +EV to push with), but is useful from this direction, too.

I would have snapped called with AJ.
EDIT: my calling range is probably 88+, ATs+, AJ+, KQs, KQ

a guy was doing this at one of my tables a few days ago, and i called him twice, once with A4 and once with 77. i think he had KQ and Q3 respectively.

just call with most above average hands and live with the results. if you run into a hand, oh well.

The guy ran white hot for about half an hour and worked his stack up to about 500. He then doubled one player up when A4<AA. Shortly afterwards i bust him when he limped with me in the bb. I had 97. flop 568 rainbow. I bet pot. turn is T completing the rainbow. I pot. river is 8. he leads for ten bucks, i raise, he shoves. Q8 for rivered trips and mhig.
