Canadian registering for WSOP Main Event
Hi,
Basically, what should I do? There doesn't seem to be pre-reg anymore. Will I get a hassle bringing, say, $15,000 in US Currency over the border to Buffalo and then on a plane to Vegas? Can I register with a Credit Card? If so, should I pay it off immediately (I heard that it starts to accrue interest right away if the money is going to a casino). Any answers to these questions would be wonderful. Ryan |

Re: Canadian registering for WSOP Main Event
Ryan,
I just wired some money down to the rio for my tournament buyins. As for bringing cash over the border I am bringing 9K so as to avoid a big hassle from border security and/or revenue canada. I'll PM you my cell number. we'll hook up down there. Cheers |

Re: Canadian registering for WSOP Main Event
What's the significance of 9K - is anything less than 10k OK without question, or something? And does anybody have any idea what the daily cash limit for ATMs is there?

Re: Canadian registering for WSOP Main Event
From the US Consulate site in Stockholm when looking for Information on US Customs:
MONEY There is no limit on the total amount of monetary instruments that may be brought into or taken out of the U.S. However, if you transport more than $10.000 in monetary instruments on any occasion into or out of the U.S., a report must be filed with U.S. Customs. The form FinCEN 105 (Report of International Transportation of Currency or Monetary Instruments) may be obtained when entering or leaving the US from a customs official, or it can be downloaded here. Failure to declare currency in amounts over $10,000 may be subject to forfeiture and could result in civil and criminal penalties. Just looking at the form ... if you ship a $10,000 entry fee via cashier's cheque (even if it is mailed), I think you still have to fill this out. Hmmmm. Looks like I have some paperwork to do. |

Re: Canadian registering for WSOP Main Event
Here's a question then:
If I want to take $15K and I take $7500 and my girlfriend takes $7500, is this a problem? We live at the same address if it matters. Ryan |
