Re: KC Royals Owner \"We will be competitive this year\"
Would be kind of tough for him to tell the truth. What is he going to say, "Yeah, we're definately going to be horrible as always this year. We overpaid for Meche and the young bats coming up are overrated. Don't bother coming to the ballpark unless you're a big fan of the visiting team - we're losing 100 again."
Everything I read on BP says the GM there is doing a decent job getting young talent in deals, so maybe there is hope. |

Re: KC Royals Owner \"We will be competitive this year\"
[ QUOTE ]
Does anyone else think there is hope for the future for the Royals? They need some more pitching, but I'd expect their lineup to be pretty decent in a couple of years. Hopefully, Gordon makes a brief stop in Omaha this year so I can go watch him a time or two. [/ QUOTE ] I think there's hope, because their AA team was pretty damned good this year. Gordon and Butler at the least look like above average regulars, both with the potential to be superstars. If Teahen's second half was legit, he's an up and coming guy. DeJesus is pretty solid, Shealy, etc. They look to be in pretty good shape position player-wise. Their pitching is much more of a question mark. Outside of Hochevar and Greinke, they don't have much upside. And KC's coaching staff is awful. |

Problem is they have nothing in the bullpen and maybe a couple of good starters. I'll have to take a look at their roster and their coaches. |

PECOTA 2007 Projection: .282/.364/.511 26 HR 14 SB 7.3 WARP 50% chance of being SuperStar level in 2007; it only goes up from there. MORP of $23.8MM in his rookie year. Sickening. |

[/ QUOTE ] I heard a rumor that Teahan was told to pick up an outfielders mit this offseason. Regardless, I'd bet Gordon starts the year in AAA. That whole BS arb clock thingy. He and Butler should be up by the end of the year. That will make the Royals worth watching...at least on days Meche doesn't pitch. |

[ QUOTE ] over/under 110 losses this season?? [/ QUOTE ] under come on this is ridiculous [/ QUOTE ] yeah, really...they lost exactly 100 last year, and not having Burgos in the Pen is worth 3-5 games easily. No way Meche is worth -15. I think a 62-65 wins (97-100 losses) is reasonable, though I'll hope for more. |
