Did I play this too fast?
Party Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 6 players Converter Stack sizes: Hero: $86.02 UTG+1: $11.85 CO: $16.50 Button: $17 SB: $48.69 BB: $256.48 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#cc3333">Hero raises to $2</font>, 3 folds, SB calls $1.75, BB folds. Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($4.5, 2 players) <font color="#cc3333">SB bets $5.63</font>, <font color="#cc3333">Hero raises to $15</font>, SB calls $9.37. Turn: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($34.5, 2 players) SB checks, <font color="#cc3333">Hero bets $32</font>, SB folds. Uncalled bets: $32 returned to Hero. Results: Final pot: $34.5 Should I have given villain an opportunity to bluff river? He was a maniac and probably would have. If villian has an ace, I am probably getting all the money on the river anyway. It is not as if I am losing value if I check the turn. Thoughts? |

Re: Did I play this too fast?
Checking the turn is pretty good here, especially against maniac. Looks like the rare correct slowplay opportunity.

Re: Did I play this too fast?
you're fine man. If you check turn you run risk of a scary card coming on river, causing him to give you less money when he does have the ace. Many times you'll get check raised when you bet that turn. Then you've got his stack

Re: Did I play this too fast?
Good chance that a 3rd spade on the river kills your action anyway. Perhaps you get called if you bet a little less on the turn, against a maniac I'd bet $20 - $25 here. I think you get called/raised the majority of the time in this spot by this type of player if he's got an ace.

Re: Did I play this too fast?
theres no need to raise the flop if he is a true maniac.
he'll hand you his stack when he has an A. he'll bluff off a significant portion of it the times he doesnt. |
