Not answering on new numbers.
I hardly never answer my cellphone when it is a number I dont recognize that calls, ie when I dont have it programmed into my phone. When my phone rings and a random numbers instead of a programmed name shows up on the screen I put it on silent and just let it ring out. If they call more than once I look it up online who the number belongs to and I can call them back if I know them.
Im just wondering if this is weird or if its standard? I should add that I have about 300 numbers in my cellphone so I kinda think that its a really big chance that I dont know the person calling and really dont have time for them. The only times before I have missed important calls is like when someone who wants to do an interview calls or something, but they usually get around it with email or an sms. I guess a girl could call sometime, but I usually take their number and call them and not the other way around. What do u guys think, am I missing out on alot of fun stuff or is it +EV to just ignore these calls. |

unless you get a ton of them and they are usually annoying i don't see the point in not answering

Re: Not answering on new numbers.
I dont answer when I dont know the number, and I dont get a huge volume of calls. If I dont have your number in my phone, or just have it memorized, I probably dont want to talk to you that much anyway.

Re: Not answering on new numbers.
I never answer if I don't recognize the number, unless it is an international call.

I guess this is pretty common, but it strikes me as insanely rude unless your phone number gets tons of telemarketers or wrong numbers.

I got in the habit of not picking up for numbers I don't know several years ago when I got into credit card debt in college. Of course now I don't pick up for people I do know half the time because I get bad service in my house and have to sprint upstairs to the corner bedroom to talk to anyone. |

[/ QUOTE ] My thinking exactly [/ QUOTE ] Maybe but this still seems retarded. In general I don't think you lose much unless there is a serious accident/emergency, but it seems like a needless inconvenience for you and people who may be trying to reach you. You are also bound to miss out on something once in a while. And adding in every friend/person who might call you is also a waste of time. What happens when you get a new phone? Aren't you even curious whose callin? |
