Default I folded the river, but was there a better time to let go?

Villain is a smart TAG who knows what he's doing.

At this point I'm pretty clear it's a set, or maybe 2pair, (I mean, he's obviously not afraid of anything), but should I have folded this turn?

I would have folded the turn most likely.

I often see a 2-barrel bluff in the form of "c-r flop, lead turn," especially if the villain doesn't want to give you credit for pair on a low board. Calling the turn felt like me having to say, "No, this is really a hand."

If this had happened with me holding AQ on a Qxx board, I think the turn would have been a much easier fold for me.

Does the overcard combined with the betting make you fold, or would you have folded on any turn with that bet?

And sorry to inundate with questions, but let's say we had QT, and the same board/betting occurred. How do you play it, once we hit top 2?

I probably would have folded to most bets without some sort of history, but the Q showing up makes it even easier.

I don't know exactly what you mean by smart TAG but people I'd give that label to I'd expect their flop checkraise is either a big hand or a bluff most likely with some midpair or maybe suited connector or possibly he just called pre-flop with AQ/KQ/QJs and then did this bluff and hit the turn.. I don't expect to see a second barrel on the turn too often when it's the bluff. Also though his flop raise is really small so maybe he's not that smart a TAG...I dunno.

If I had QT I would call the turn. I would then likely just call the river (or valuebet if checked too)...might be a little weak, but I just don't really think that a smart TAG has AQ here very often.

A call on the turn isn't bad if villian is really aggressive and kinda bluffy. Definitely have to fold the river though.
