Re: Friend runs super hot...
[ QUOTE ]
cut---- Law of Karma The "Law of Karma" is central in Indian religions. All living creatures are responsible for their karma — their actions and the effects of their actions — and for their release from samsara. The concept can be traced back to the early Upanishads. "As you sow so shall you reap" This is the Law of Karma. Interestingly, both science and religion recognize this law. In science it is often stated, “For every action there is an equal and opposing reaction.” Its religious counterparts are, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”; and “As you do unto others, it will be done unto you”; "Cast your bread on the waters and it will come back to you". Even today’s common knowledge expresses this principle in the saying, “What goes around, comes around.” This is the law of karma, of cause and effect. [/ QUOTE ] So if you give the money back, the law of KARMA suggests that somewhere down the road the favour will be returned by the forces of balance and you will get 1000 dollars of your own returned. BUT! Because we are smart we know that a dollar now is worth more than a dollar in the future, so unless the law of Karma is garaunteeing to factor in the net present value of any future sums we will recieve, it may be +EV to just keep the money now. |

Does karma not take inflation into account?

Re: Friend runs super hot...
This thread clearly shows how our culture is moving away from moral code towards a belief that if you don't break a law then it's all good.
The ironic part about this thread is that this is exactly what OP is mad about. If the casino staff was held to a higher moral code they wouldn't give pathetic service, be so rude, or treat the locals better) pay it forward |
