Re: prop players in vegas
Getting back on topic, Santa Fe Station still uses (at least one) prop player(s). Stations has also occasionally posted opening for prop players on their jobflash pages.

Re: prop players in vegas
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] At the Luxor, however, it is relatively easy for a tourist to get a return on the jackpot drop as the promos are frequent and easy to get into. Also, the return on the jackpot drop has much lower variance there since the 3 weekly freerolls are all chopped. Even if you're just in Vegas for the weekend you can get into a low-varience promo that is worth more than what you've lost to the jackpot drop. [/ QUOTE ] Really -- maybe I'm worng but I didn't think they ran a freeroll like that. So If I come into town on Friday night. Play a little on Friday evening, play on Saturday, and maybe a little bit on Sunday morning before i get on a plane to return home, what freeroll have i qualified for? [/ QUOTE ] They have a "freeroll" in which the entire prize pool gets chopped up between the players on Sunday afternoon. To qualify (I think) you have to play 6 hours between Saturday morning and when the promo starts. Also, if you play in the early AM there will on some days (I'm not exactly sure which ones, but I think Sunday is one of them), be a high hand promo where they'll give out close to 1K during the promo period. This is in addition to their regular jackpots that go 24/7 and the many other promos that run through the week. EDIT: I don't want to be Mr. Luxor, so if you want more info on their promos they can tell you specifically what they're running if you call the room. |

So my point is established. Joe weekend traveler drops money into the jackpot Friday Saturday and Sunday morning but doesn't get to play the freeroll (or get his chop) because he had to get on a plane Sunday afternoon. [/ QUOTE ] This player would still be eligible for the AM promo(s). Yes, if that person flew out Sunday morning they couldn't play for the freeroll chop, but if they left later on Sunday or drove to Vegas they could play in the promo. I know for a fact that many weekend tourists do make it into the promo because I've played with them in it. EDIT: I also want to reemphasize that a weekend tourist can get a positive return on the jackpot drop without playing in the freeroll chop if they hit the other promos. |

Re: prop players in vegas
I'd taken it as a given that Poker rooms operated like casino table games and that a dealer was never allowed to play there. When I started learning Poker years ago, one of its virtues was that you are not playing against the house. Letting a dealer play while on the clock changes this a bit. A dealer has the opportunity to study the players and then, while getting paid by the casino, take a shot at game. Nice for him. It would be bad enough if the dealer was allowed to play after his shift, but while on the clock? Outrageous.

Re: prop players in vegas
I was playing against a dealer once. That man was the biggest luck box on earth, but he was nice about it. He actually told me when he had a hand, and showed me every time.
