From watching a few previous seasons, it seems like many people actually get flabby over the course of 30-40 days while being on Survivor.

Um, you do realize Survivor was filmed like 6 months ago right? Its easy to gain 5 pounds a month if your life consists of sitting at a poker table 10 hours a day.

That "flab" is the loss of muscle mass and fat that filled the person out previously.

You try reducing your diet from over 1500 calories to less then 800 a day and see if you gain weight.
