The only thing I can say is I hope that this will now make the federal and state governments(all states that haven't legalized poker) take a long look at legalizing cardrooms for the safety of everyone who plays in underground cardrooms.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just like they have rushed to legalize drugs for the safety of all the people who might get killed because of illegal drug sales.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was actually hoping for a result that ended prohibition.

[/ QUOTE ]
We would all like more legalized poker I think. But the more likely result of incidents like this is an increased crack down on clubs.

[/ QUOTE ]

And I think that is where the PPA needs to come in and show that we (the constituents) want legalized, safe poker. But first people need to sign up for the PPA. If you haven't you should do so now.

My god do I have a pit in my stomach right now. I was at the Players Club when it was raided and I was at 61st St when it was robbed. After that gun was aimed at my head at 61st St I swore off underground rooms forever. I cannot believe any of you still play at these places. AC, Foxwoods, internet and home games is all I do now. I cannot believe a life was lost tonight. I probably know who it was if he played at Playstation.

I am so sick right now.

[/ QUOTE ]

I used to play at Mayfair and feel the same way. Stick to places that don't get robbed, taking your life in your hands is foolish, really really not worth it.

From now on, expect more and more clubs to get robbed as stories like this hit the media.

Rest in Peace Frank, we will miss you.

Frank was 5'10"ish, often wore a Yankees hat. I believe the early press was wrong, I think he was 55.

Please PM me first to discuss, I'll let you know what can an cannot be disclosed - most can at this stage, but just in case we should be safe.

It's horrible whoever it is, but can anyone add some clarifying details? We play with so many people. One Frank I know is a sweet guy, soft spoken, very thin, super tight player. Same guy?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I think you have the right guy. Sweetheart of a man, nice as could be.

Is there anyway we (we being the PPA) can begin to lobby states such as NY to legalize cardrooms? This is just becoming absolutely ludicrous.

[/ QUOTE ]

I dont mean to derail this thread but anyone who still thinks the PPA is representing PLAYERS needs a wake up call. The PPA is an organization representing online poker rooms the largest affiliates, their agenda is to make online poker legal provided the online rooms that are funding the PPA through our dollars can remain in business in the US. The PPA is not concerned about legalizing poker in NY, they wont do a thing - this is why we really need another organization to step up to the plate, one clear of any improper funding. The PPA will have little direct affect on congress once congress figures out how they are funded - its a sad state we are in

Very Sad what happened. I played with Frank several days ago. A gentleman and a solid player. Let's hope that they catch the scumbags!
