woah this is one hell of a heated response. I never meant to say anything poor about these dealers. I just hadn't been exposed to it and wanted to share a story. I didn't ask if I should tell the floor of if I should stop dealing. In fact I said nothing changed and I didnt make a note of it.

Regardless, I think people are right when it comes to commenting about specifics of my play. And that it is rude. Still he dealt me two cards and pushed the winner the pot, and that deserves a dollar.

youtalkfunny - we can always tell when a dealer posts in the B&M forum. Dealers tend to forget that they are there for the players, not the other way around. Dealers exist to reduce the possibility of cheating in a self dealt game, they are there to serve the casino and its customers. Relating a dealer's actions to another customers actions is like comparing apples to oranges, they are only related because they are both fruit, other than that there is no similarity what so ever.

In short - i think your post was off base, it was an "Im a dealer, respect me dammit" rant.

Your read is off. He is just saying there are much bigger problems than dealers making comments like this.

Then you tell me, TT, how should the dealer have responded to the "How is he playing?" question? What could he have said or done to meet the impossibly high standard you folks have for dealer comments?

"I'm a dealer, respect me dammit"??? I don't want respect. I just want to be treated like a human being. I just want to be given enough leeway that I don't think to myself, "No matter what I say or do here, I'm wrong in someone's eyes."

All my post was saying is that there are degrees of right and wrong. I'm not saying that any of the dealers mentioned in this thread are right--but I am saying that players often make way too big a deal over the most insignificant things.

No, I was ranting pretty good there.

Again, hold us dealers to a higher standard--just don't make it an impossible standard.

"The dealer told me that he thinks my wife is the ugliest woman he's ever seen."
"After the hand was over, the dealer said he thought I had AA."

I think a dealer should get fired for the first quote.

A lot of people in this thread think he should be shot for the second one.

I would say, "I can't say".

If one of my dealers is commenting on the play
he will get a write up. And a day off if it continues.

insignificant to you because you make the same amount + tip, significant to the player because they are investing in a hand and anything that adjusts their results - which includes their image - affects their bottom line. I'd say thats significant to the player if they are affected, they have a right to be bothered when an outside force that represents the casino affects their results.

Sure players often go to far, but what does that have to do with the OP?

Now your read is off . Nobody thinks he should be shot, but there is no doubt in my mind a dealer SHOULD be written up if the player complains to the floor about the dealer's comments influencing a hand, or future hands. Thats standard operating procedure. Notice in my first post I said that Jay should pull the dealers aside and speak to them on his own since he knows them, there are better solutions that reporting the dealer to the floor if you have a one to one relationship but if there is no relationship then the floor needs to be notified so the dealer can be corrected and there is a record in the dealers file that this occurred.

IMHO if you think its impossible for a dealer to not discuss the hand then you might have the wrong career. Its very easy for a dealer to avoid the trap of affecting the outcome of a hand or future hands through their comments, and I'm willing to bet that every casino poker room operator or director in the USA would agree with me on that. Thats why writing up the dealer is important because it:

1) Assures the customer that he will play in a game free of outside influence

2) Assures that there will be no need for outside involvement from regulatory commissions

3) Helps to keep the staff on the same page so they all know what is and is not allowed

4) Maintains the authority of management

If it bothers you, just let them know away from the table. No big deal
