Is that you in your avatar?

[/ QUOTE ]

no, my avatar is the character J-ROC from the TV show Trailer Park Boys. If you haven't watched TPC you should download it... start from the begining if you can, it's really really funny.

time for breakfast, I'll do some of the others this afternoon.

Do you get nervous before sessions?

[/ QUOTE ]

Is that a joke?

cmyr - i figured that wasn't you in your avatar, but I had to be ure you weren't some douchebag canadian wearing a compton hat ;p

To continue the well, what do you look for with regard to game selection. I know it's not like .5/1 or 1/2 where there's like 10 games going so I was wondering if sometimes you're ready for a session but there just aren't any good games going.

1. How many total hands do you think you've played of PLO?

1b. How many in your pokertracker database.

2. I had another question but I forget what it is. Oh now I remember. What % of your bankroll do you have on online pokersites or neteller type of institutions? Does that make you nervous?

p.s. I definitely know your Full Tilt screename for sure now!

While you were moving up in stakes did you find your style of play changing? Im at 50max right now and I've started to play a little more passively preflop due to the sheer number of players calling preflop and pushing with anything that hits. However I'm pretty sure at the higher stakes you need to play more aggressivly to beat the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

I still have trouble adjusting to games you describe, where you will have three or four callers preflop every hand. I think the correct strategy in these sorts of games is to raise smaller with any hand that can hit a flop hard, but to stop betting flops marginally at all, and play patiently. You can't run over calling stations that well, you need to showdown hands.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think I described pretty well one strategy to beat these games and there are some very good additional comments by other posters where you can see areas of disagreement:

These games are often quite different from hands and advice posted here.

Whats been the most influencial in developing your PLO game. Just getting in there and playing? Reviewing hands? Talking strat on AIM? Posting on 2p2? A book? Ever have a coach or coach someone?

Also, how much weight do you put into PTO when it comes to decisions...I know its probably going to depend on the situation, but in any big pot, how much do those numbers influence your play?

How do you play second set with no redraws when you encounter resistance in

A) limped pot
B) single raised pots

I dont ask for a whole plan just some general ideas when you have around 100BB and are up vs someone who isnt brain dead.

Also: Your profile lists your occupation as "student" - how old are you and did you graduate?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm 22 and I still consider myself a student. I'm going to be starting school again in september, and taking two classes each semester. Since I can only spend 25 hours or so a week playing cards, school is a good way to use some of my extra time.

[ QUOTE ]

Do you see poker as an honourable profession?

[/ QUOTE ]

In the sense that a whole lot of people work for the sole purpose of getting money, I think poker is perfectly 'honourable'; it certainly isn't pretending to be anything it isn't. That said I'm not going to pretend that poker has some deep value to society.

[ QUOTE ]

Do you think you could earn more money doing something else?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think I can make more money playing poker than anyone would ever pay me to work, but I think that poker money, even at the highest levels, is pretty small change compared to what you can make as an entrepreneur.

[ QUOTE ]

Do you enjoy playing or is it like hard work?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's work, but I enjoy it sometimes. Mostly though I enjoy the lifestyle it facilitates: making my own schedule, taking vacations when I want, not having to deal with people I don't like... I still have trouble making myself put in the hours, though.
