(0) Actually, I'm paid to tell offshore resources what to do at the moment, but my spcecialty, what I was hired by ATS to do, is COBOL.

when I graduated College for Computer Science, we took Cobol and Fortran.

That semester proved to me I wanted to be a systems analyst and not a programmer.

There was a story about NYNEX yellow pages head programmer being killed tragically in a car accident and after 20 years and millions of dollars later, they figured they had worked out about half of the code he wrote.

NOt sure if that was a tall tale or not but having seen some of the code these guys wrote in the 60's and 70's, I can believe it.

Yup. Talk about making your head asplode. Fortunately, no one writes JCL from scratch, you just copy something else and change the file names.

OpenVMS and DCL is worse though. Think of MSDOS, now remove a bunch of improvements to ease of use and you have VMS. What a PITA that was.
