Default Limping with AK UTG early on.

What the title says.

$50 10 man non-turbo SnG on Party Poker in the first blind level.

You are UTG with AKo. You limp.

Bad?

Yes? Just raise it... What is your plan then if you got 5 limpers on a K108 flop? I generally don't like that play with those kind of hands... Especially first hand not!

My early play with randomizing hands:

AA-99, AK, AQ - 80/20 raises/calls
88-66 - 80/20 calls/raises

Depends on the table, has there been many raises PF? If so i would more likely limp, if you're at a passive table i would more likely raise.

It's a turbo and it's first blind level, so I don't think you can think about the previous action too much...

I don't think you need to get tricky with AKo in the first blind level?

I really think you're wasting your time. Just make the most +EV move at any given juncture. There are millions of players out there and millions of different situations: you don't need to randomise anything. Also, no one's paying attention and even if they are, they're probably too thick to exploit you.

Unless you have a note like button 'raises light over utg limpers' this is just a bad play.

Raise AK, get called by A6, profit. Limp AK, have A6 limp behind, profit less.

Also limp AK, get raised by AQ, shove, AQ puts you on aces and folds.

I don't like it. Might as well raise.

This is the worst case scenario. There are others.

This is the first level of a $50 SnG. When you raise to 150 UTG you most likely won't get heads up either.

So AQ, AJ, KQs just muck because you're UTG?
